Preamble
WHEREAS the value of eLawyers.pk to clients and advocates alike depends on a directory and communication environment free from fraud, abuse, and misuse of verification, messaging, and document features;
AND WHEREAS certain conduct — including scraping, credential fraud, malware distribution, and harassment — can undermine user trust and safety at scale;
NOW, THEREFORE, this Acceptable Use Policy supplements our Terms of Use by defining permitted use and specific prohibited conduct across the Platform's directory, verification, communication, and document features.
Article 1
Permitted Use
- 1.1
You may use the Platform to search and browse verified advocate and firm listings, submit legitimate consultation inquiries, exchange messages relevant to a prospective or existing engagement, schedule and manage appointments, upload and share documents relevant to a matter, and access published legal guides and glossary content.
- 1.2
Advocates may use the Platform to maintain an accurate professional listing, respond to client inquiries, manage appointments, and communicate with clients, in accordance with our Lawyer Listing Policy and Verification Policy.
Article 2
Directory and Data Integrity
- 2.1
You must not scrape, harvest, crawl, or systematically extract listings, personal data, reviews, or other Platform content using automated tools, except through any interfaces we expressly provide for that purpose.
- 2.2
You must not misrepresent your identity, qualifications, bar enrolment, or authority to act on behalf of another person or firm, and must not create duplicate or impersonation listings.
- 2.3
You must not submit falsified, altered, or another person's identity or credential documents during registration or verification.
Article 3
Security and Access Controls
- 3.1
You must not interfere with, disable, or attempt to circumvent authentication, multi-factor authentication, CAPTCHA or equivalent challenge mechanisms, rate limiting, or other security controls on the Platform.
- 3.2
You must not attempt to access accounts, documents, or messages that are not your own, including through credential stuffing, brute-force attempts, or exploitation of a vulnerability, and must not access a document share link other than one provided to you for a legitimate purpose.
- 3.3
You must promptly report any discovered vulnerability or suspected security incident to support@elawyers.pk and must not exploit, publicise, or test such a vulnerability beyond what is necessary to report it responsibly.
Article 4
Content, Uploads, and Malware
- 4.1
You must not upload or transmit malware, viruses, or other harmful code, and understand that uploaded files are scanned and may be rejected or quarantined where malicious content is detected.
- 4.2
You must not upload unlawful material, documents belonging to a third party without authority to disclose them, or content unnecessary for the stated purpose of an inquiry, message, or share link.
- 4.3
You must not post reviews, complaints, or profile content that violates our Review Policy, Complaint Policy, or Lawyer Listing Policy, as applicable.
Article 5
Communication Conduct
- 5.1
You must not use messaging, inquiry, or appointment features to send spam, unsolicited commercial content unrelated to legal services, harassing or abusive communications, or content intended to defraud another user.
- 5.2
You must not use contact details obtained through the Platform to solicit users for services unrelated to legitimate legal representation, or to contact a party's opposing counsel or opposing party in a manner inconsistent with professional conduct rules.
Article 6
Prohibited Automated Conduct
- 6.1
Automated or bulk account registration, use of bots to submit inquiries or reviews, and any attempt to manipulate search ranking, review scores, or verification outcomes through automated means are strictly prohibited.
- 6.2
We may deploy automated detection measures, including CAPTCHA challenges and behavioural analysis, to identify and block prohibited automated conduct.
Article 7
Enforcement
- 7.1
Violations of this Policy may result in removal of content, restriction of features, suspension or termination of an account, and, in serious cases, referral to law enforcement or the relevant bar council.
- 7.2
We may take interim protective action, including suspending an account or restricting a listing's discoverability, pending investigation of a suspected violation, consistent with our Complaint Policy.
- 7.3
We may cooperate with law enforcement or regulatory authorities where required by law or where necessary to protect the safety of users or the integrity of the Platform.
Article 8
Reporting Violations
- 8.1
Users who become aware of conduct that may violate this Policy should report it through the in-Platform reporting tools where available, or by contacting support@elawyers.pk.
